Lesson Objectives

By the end of the lesson, the child will be able to:

1. identify five vegetables correctly after activity one; 

2. write five names of vegetables accurately on their own;

3. tell the importance of vegetables after the lesson.


Lesson Introduction

  • Exchange of greetings.
  • Check the prior knowledge of the students by asking:
                   1. What is a vegetable? 
                   2. What did you have for breakfast?
                          - The teacher will instruct the students to click on the link below and choose the 
                             the vegetable that they had for breakfast.
                            

                    3. Why do we eat vegetables?

Lesson Development 

Information Input 

  • Introduce the topic vegetables, their names, and importance.
  • Show a short, educational video rhyme about vegetables to the class.
  • As students watch the video, encourage them to sing along and identify the different vegetables being shown. 
  • After the video, facilitate a discussion about the vegatables featured in the rhyme. Ask students to recall the names of vegetables and share any interesting facts they learned.

❗Substitution: instead of a traditional lecture method using chart paper and explaining the concept, we can substitute it by watching rhymes, videos, and songs on projector.

Activity 1 

  • After watching the YouTube video, distribute printed copies of vegetables crossword to each student. 
  • Tell the students that they need to fill in the blanks squares with the names of different vegetables. 
  • Emphasize that each word must fit both horizontally and vertically according to the provided clues (picture clues).
  • If the students are struggling, offer hint such as the number of letters in the word, the starting letter, or the description of the vegetables. 
  • After they are done with the activity, have volunteers share their work to the class.

Activity 2


  • Provide each student with a tablet or computer with internet access.
  • Direct students to the provided link for the online vegetable coloring game.
  • Instruct students to choose their favorite vegetables and color them using the digital coloring tools.
  • Circulate among the students to provide assistance and guidance as needed.

Follow up

  • After the game. have students share their colored vegetables creation with the class, discussing their favorite vegetables and why they chose certain colors. 
Lesson Closure

  • Review the main points of the lesson: the importance of eating vegetables for health, the different types of vegetables, and the fun activities they  participated in. 
  • Ask students to share one new thing they learned or enjoyed about the lesson.
  • Remind them to try incorporating different vegetables into their meals at home and to share their knowledge with their families.
